JANESVILLE ROOM FIRE
November 8, 2008 At 2148 hours, companies were dispatched to 38 Malvern Street for smoke in the building. E-11 arrived and reported nothing showing. First due Truck 1 arrived and positioned in a vacant lot next to the building. The Truck Lt. reported smoke showing from the rear of a 3 story woodframe as E-11 reported smoke in the building and requested a line. As 11's placed their line, the Truck OVM threw a ladder and popped 2 windows. The roof team set up and started up to the roof. E-1 started with a backup line as E-11 quickly knocked down a bedroom fire. The Truck opened up before taking up about an hour later.
2ND DUE PARTITION FIRE
October 31, 2008- Truck 1 responded second due to a reported chimney fire at 292 Smith Road. First due E-5 reported a partition fire and stretched a line. East Manchester is mostly single family homes so Truck 1 positioned the rig out of the way (Truck 3 had the front and was set up). The Truck guys opened up the walls and ceiling area above the mantle to expose the fire and E-5 knocked it down. They finished overhauling the area and assisted with ventilating the home before taking up.
2008 FIREFIGHTERS BALL
October 25, 2008-The 60th Annual Manchester Firefighters Ball came and went this weekend. As usual the ball committee did a great job putting things together. Due to a busy winter, the slide show was great with some good shots of the Truck and its members in operation. Truck 1 had a good showing this year with all 4 groups "representing". Capt. Pelletier, Lt. Prince, Lt. Couture, FF Battey, FF Barton, FF Flurey, and FF McGaffigan were present.

CONSTRUCTION DUMPSTER WITH EXTENSION
October 18, 2008-The Captain's shift took in a small working fire about 4:00pm. First due companies at 625 Central Street reported a 30 yard dumpster going with extension. The Truck, second due, went in with handtools to open up the exposure then overhauled the dumpster, which was full with roofing materials.
TRUCK MEMBERS WORKING ON A NEW PATCH
September 2008-For the last few weeks, the members of the Truck have been working on a new patch design. On Sunday, July 15, 2008, Truck Co 1 became its own company. The Truck never had a mascot or a patch 20 years before when it used to be its own company. The design above, with a few minor changes, will be the new patch. The patches will be ordered soon.

Truck 1's current rig is a 2001 91' Bronto Skylift with an E-One cab. The boom is an articulating platform style with 2 booms, a "jib arm" and a rotating bucket. These features allow us to reach numerous windows quickly, get under soffits and roof overhangs, get up and over other buildings, square up to rooflines for easier roof operations, go below grade, etc. Having these features makes us very versatile on the fireground with the ability to perform our functions quickly and efficiently usually from inside the bucket.
